There is an old saying in retail: "If you try to be all things to all people, you become nothing to no one." We believe in this credo. That’s why Furniture Enterprises of Alaska built our company with six unique stores—Sadler’s, Williams & Kay, The Ultimate Mattress Store, Ashley Home Store, La-Z-Boy and Mattress Firm. Each store offers a unique shopping experience tailored to the unique attributes of its clientele. From price to style, we carefully curate the pieces Alaskan consumers want and desire.
Furniture Enterprises of Alaska buyers shop all major American furniture markets and travel internationally to find current trends and improved favorites. They constantly engage manufacturers to continuously improve quality and implement efficiencies that reduce production costs. Our buyers are experts in furniture construction, materials and how they relate to Alaska’s climate, low winter humidity and issues caused by our long travel time. Our "Alaska specific experience" means we are the best choice.
Behind the scenes, Furniture Enterprises of Alaska scrutinizes every function to lower costs and improve customer service. We’ve adopted industry practices when applicable and made our own when necessary. For example, our highly efficient distribution center receives between 15 and 25 containers of furniture per week, and our delivery teams make up to 100 deliveries a day. By combining the deliveries from all our stores, zoning our trucks and mapping routes, we deliver to you faster, at lower cost. No competitor can match our efficiency and our low impact on the environment.
Additionally, the combined buying power of eight retail locations means we can offer the best price. Our commitment to the consumer isn’t just about providing value—while our warranties and guarantees vary by store—our commitment to standing behind them doesn’t. We maintain a Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating of A+ for all our stores.
Furniture Enterprises of Alaska is locally owned and operated by Dave and Rachel Cavitt. Dave learned the furniture business from the bottom up starting as a delivery man for Sadler’s in 1975. Moving up to sales, store manager, general manager, buyer, partner and then owner, he and Rachel developed the Furniture Enterprises concept in 1988. Starting with Sadler’s stores, Furniture Enterprises has grown to include Williams & Kay, La-Z-Boy, The Ultimate Mattress Store, Ashley Home Store and Mattress Firm.
The Cavitt’s believe in giving back to the community. Their generosity has touched thousands of Alaskans in need through employment of the disabled, sponsorship of Sadler’s Ultra Marathon wheelchair race, Sadler’s charity trade in events, support of Hope Cottages, Eva Foundation for the survivors of domestic abuse, Go Red for Women, and many more.
Furniture Enterprises of Alaska provides full time employment for nearly 200 associates. Employees enjoy higher than average income, paid vacations, 401(k), health insurance, employee discounts and more. We appreciate and respect our customers, our staff, and our community.
